A visit to the O’Keeffe Museum offers insight not only into the artist’s paintings, but also her creative process and the light and landscape that inspired her. She spent her last few years in Santa Fe where she passed away in 1986. In 1946, O’Keeffe was the first woman artist to be given a one-woman show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. While O’Keeffe was best known for her up-close and large-scale flower paintings, those images only make up about 200 of her nearly 2,000 piece portfolio.
